The community at the Salesian Institute, Cape Town, is the oldest in the Vice-Province and was established in 1910. The solid building is  landmark on Somerset Road, on the corner of Chiappini Street. 

The community runs the following Youth Projects:

• Learn to Live (L2L)
• 16+ Outreach (16+)
• Don Bosco Hostel (DBH)
• Youth Employment Skills (YES)
• Waves of Change (WOC)
